A Guide to Skin Conditions

Normal Skin

Basically healthy and pH stabalized. It is neither too oily nor too dry with no skin eruptions. It requires only routine care.

Combination Skin

T-Zone type oiliness with some dry areas. The skin has a fine texture with small follicle (pore) size. Oiliness occurs within three hours of thorough cleansing on the forehead, nose and chin.

Oily Skin (Teen)

Suffers from more than T-Zone oiliness. The skin is not necessarily toxic, but naturally produces an excess of sebaceous matter. This condition is characterized as having normal-to-enlarged follicle and sporadic breakouts due to excessive oil, protein and keratinized matter.

Oily / Sensitive Skin

Suffers from poor cellular respiration and reacts with environmental stimuli. The skin is toxic, bordering on problematic. It is identified by enlarged follicles and sporadic breakouts. A pale, sallow complexion is common.

Oily / Dehydrated Skin (Teen)

Usually found when oiliness has been present from a young age until adulthood. The follicles are normal-to-enlarged and the sebaceous glands overproduce to compensate for dehydration. Oily/Dehydrated skin has excellent lubricity, but lacks water content in the stratum corneum or horny layer.

Oily / Acneic Skin (Teen)

A problematic skin. The surface is highly toxic with enlarged follicle and thick texture. This condition suffers from excessive oiliness and inflammation.

Dry Skin (Mature)

A deficiency in water causes dehydration of the inner and intermediate layers of the epidermis. A major demarcation of the skin is excessive shedding. This condition has a transparent or thin texture and closed, tight follicle. The skin becomes dull, thin, looses its elasticity and wrinkles prematurely. A Dry condition can be found in all skin.

Dry Alipidic Skin

The aging process of the skin slows secretions and cellular regeneration which causes loss of skin tone, cutaneous compactness, increased wrinkles and dehydration.

Environmentally Damaged Skin

Seen in aged or severely solar damaged skin. Poor circulation within inner or intermediate layers of the epidermis cause atonic and asphyxiated skin.

Dry / Sensitive Skin

Usually thin, delicate and highly reactive skin. Often subject to congestion and telangietascia accompanied with dry, flakiness. Flushes easily and is sensitive to touch or application of product.

Dry / Mature Skin

Extremely dry and completely under-nourished. This condition is chronically flaky, dehydrated and defatted with poor lubricity. Dehydration occurs when water is lost from the surface and is not adequately replenished by water from the epidermis.

Dry / Pre-Mature Skin

Thick, leather-like texture that is caused from the sun and other environmental influences. It becomes dehydrated and defatted, aged, and is marked by deeper lines and wrinkles around the eyes and lips, crepe-like skin under the eyes, and horizontal lines on the forehead.
